Three more apprentices look to build their career with End Systems

Continuing our proud, 20-year tradition of recruiting local youngsters and giving them a chance to build a career with us, we have recently taken on three new Building Services Engineering apprentices.

The 2013 intake will follow the proven modern apprenticeship path, which includes day release at Liverpool Community College to study National and Higher National Certificates and an NVQ level 3 in Building Services Technology, as well as Project Management delivered by our training management agency BEST.

As with our July graduates, the three students will soon start to combine their work and studies, with an eye on graduation in four years’ time.

ContractorPlus is ‘assure’ sign of quality

Here at End Systems we are fully aware that the market is becoming increasingly competitive, resulting in customers looking to use suppliers that can not only meet their needs, but who can also provide assurance in terms of practices, procedures, quality assurance and compliance with legislation.

That’s why, in order to highlight how seriously we take this area, we have decided to adopt ContractorPlus to demonstrate our compliance with all health and safety legislation relevant to our works.

A wide range of companies – including big names such as Peel Holdings, Harvey Nichols, CBRE and Selfridges – use accreditation with this industry-renowned online system to ensure their workforce and all contractors used are of a proven standard, to make sure they work safely at all times and maintain compliance with all aspects of health and safety.

Also, by becoming members of this scheme it reduces the need for completion of arduous PQQs for each and every project, as ContractorPlus manages all of this on an annual basis.

A proud day for four ESL all-stars

July 2013 saw the culmination of four years’ hard work for four young apprentices, as they graduated with flying colours and prepared to become fully-fledged members of the End Systems team.

In 2009 Matthew Corlett, Matthew Johnson, Anthony Aspinall and Adam Doolan joined us as wide-eyed apprentices, embarking on their two-year ONC programme while at the same time trying to learn the other crucial stuff such as which local café did the best breakfast. Following this, the four then threw themselves into their HNC course with the same determination and, after two more years of dedicated work and study, all passed with flying colours.

Watching on with great pride at the July graduation were company directors Brian Townsend, Audrey Townsend and Kay Corlett, who saw three of the four (relatively!) young apprentices emerge as engineers. The fourth, Adam Doolan, was there in spirit only, as he continued celebrating his achievements in style on a well-earned break in Zante!

BIM to FM – Putting the ‘I’ into BIM

Our partnership with specialist authors, End Systems, ensures we make the most of the Building Information Model, putting the information into BIM to assist the Facilities Management Team. Utilising the dedicated collaboration portal of ENDoc’s, End Systems can host the final BIM Model then create and populate all of the information links to:

  • Commissioning & Test Information
  • Specification
  • Design Data

Local Team Receive Sponsorship

As part of the End Systems sustainability policy and specifically our commitment to “Healthy Communities”, we have chosen Astley & Tyldesley JFC to receive the companies support and sponsorship.

Managing Director, Brian Townsend, reiterated the importance of supporting local communities and in particular efforts to ensure children are supported in sporting initiatives.

Astley and Tyldesley Under 9’s are an enthusiastic and completive football team, playing throughout the North West, it is therefore right that as a local employer we contribute to the tremendous efforts of the volunteer coaching staff and dedicated parents who commit their time to developing kids through sport.

Since introducing the striking new Black Kits, Astley and Tyldesley have been on a winning streak and came away winners in a recent local tournament, after the lads urged the coaches to let them wear the “Lucky New Kits”

Investor in People 2012

Last Friday End Systems were successfully recognised as an Investor in People for the fifth time. We were initially recognised in 1999 with re-recognition in 2002, 2005, 2008 and now 2012.

After a full day of interviews, assessor Brian Foy confirmed that End Systems continue to meet the standard for the Investor in People award.

Focus on: Commissioning Management

The Commissioning Management process is now, more than ever, a critical component of any successful project. Not only does it provide a soft landing for the Commissioning process it allows project managers to take advantage of the expertise on hand to ensure the installation is in a quality assured state prior to commissioning commencing.

All too often Project Managers are tasked with this role along with the many other onerous tasks associated with successful Project Management. It is far more effective and beneficial to utilise the services of the Commissioning Manager whether it be in a full CM role or as an installation specialist to ensure the installation is correctly prepared.

Education Saves Lives – Our Health and Safety Initiative

Being safe continues to be of paramount importance to End Systems. We see it as a critical part of our business to ensure the safety of all our employees and all contractors working on our behalf. We want to ensure that all people are educated in best practice with regards to Health and Safety and to benefit from an accident free environment.

Following a review of our processes we pleased to announce that End Systems have launched the Education Saves Lives initiative across the business from 2011.

Education Saves Lives is all about giving our staff the education and the tools to undertake their work in a safe manner, developing a culture where everyone is involved in creating a safe environment in which they work, second best is not an option.

We will be involving all of our supply chain in Education Saves Lives along with assessing what they are undertaking to achieve a safe environment and culture within their organisation.
